What are the Elements classified as Other Metals? Define Other
Metals
Other Metals are used as a term in
Periodic Chemistry when classifying the chemical elements. Each element can usually
be classified as a metal or a non-metal based on their general
Physical and Chemical Properties. Other Metals are any of the metallic elements within
Groups 13, 14, and 15 in the Periodic Table (see the List of Other metals).
The majority of metals have higher densities than the majority of
non-metals. The elements classed as Other Metals do not exhibit variable
oxidation states, and their valence electrons are only present in their
outer shell.
What are Other Metals? Common Properties of Other Metals
The elements classified as Other metals
are ductile and malleable, good conductors of both electricity and heat and
form ionic bonds with non-metals. All of these elements are
solid, have a relatively high density and are opaque. Nearly 75% of
all the elements in the Periodic Table are classified as metals which are
detailed in the
List of Metals.
